Iceland Travel – 10 Year Wedding Anniversary

We had an adventurous client who was looking for special trip. They were celebrating a 10 year wedding anniversary, so it as necessary to plan an all out trip to Iceland. They were setting the bar extremely high for future anniversary trips!

We worked together to build the perfect custom itinerary. One that included a mix of planned tours and also down time to allow them to explore on their own. They had an amazing trip and one of the “Top 5” experiences of their life.

Sit back and enjoy some of the fantastic highlights from their trip.  If this doesn’t motivate you to travel, then I’m not sure what will!

Where Did They Visit?

They flew directly into Keflavík International Airport with a direct flight from Chicago.  We had them staying the first few nights in Reyjkavik, which we recommend to use as a base for a portion of the trip. It’s the capital and largest city in Iceland.  It’s easy to navigate and see many of the desirable sites from here.

From Reyjkavik, they spent time in the charming fishing village of Vik. They picked up a rental car for part of the trip and headed towards the town (which is about 2.5 hours from Reyjkavik). We recommend renting a car for part of the trip, as it allows you to explore some fantastic areas in Iceland on your own.

Where Did They Stay?

  • Black Pearl Apartments in Reykjavik – This is an amazing set of apartments right in Reykjavik. They stayed in a very nice standard suite room. It includes a nice sized kitchen, balcony and living space.

 Where Did They Explore?

  • Inside the Glacier Tour
Our travelers were ready to embark on some of their excursions. Their first tour was the Inside the Glacier tour.  It included a thrilling ride in an 8-wheel drive glacier truck, exploring man made tunnels and chambers in Langjokull Glacier. The Langjokull Glacier is Europe’s second largest Glacier. The tour also visits two other great spots; the Barnafossar Waterfall and the Deildarunguhver Thermal Spring.

Golden Circle Tour

If you are interested in natural beauty, then this tour doesn’t disappoint.  Our travelers enjoyed the magic of Thingvellir National Park. They visited the Gullfoss Waterfall, walked amid the steam vents and mud pots in the geysir hot spring area.  The area is absolutely stunning and there is a little history on the Skalholt Church as well.

 The Blue Lagoon

One of the most sought after experiences in Iceland is the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. It is located in a lava field in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwestern Iceland.  Our travelers visited this area on the return back to the airport on the final day. This is an amazing thrill and an unbelievable thing to experience!
