South Africa and Kenya Adventure

We had some travelers who enjoyed an amazing South Africa and Kenya adventure. They explored vineyards, safaris and much more! They were fortunate to spend their sabbatical time off of work to truly enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

See their itinerary below:

Days 1 – 2: Traveling (International Flight, not included in price but we can include for you)

Days 3 – 5: Mara North Conservancy

On arrival to Nairobi, you will be met by a Timely Traveler representative and transferred to Wilson Airport for your onward flight this into the famed Maasai Mara this morning to begin your safari at Kicheche Mara in the exclusive Mara North Conservancy. Mara North shares unfenced borders with the main Mara Reserve so you’ll have access to all of the wildlife, none of the crowds, and the added ability to drive off-road to get close to wildlife. Enjoy three days of game drives, walks, or even a visit to a local village (additional cost) if you’d like.  


  • Airstrip transfers, full board accommodation including drinks, shared game drives, escorted bush walks, services of a highly qualified guide, laundry and conservation fees.

Day 6: Nairobi

After your morning game drive, return to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport. From Wilson, you will be met by your driver/guide and have a vehicle at your disposal this afternoon to explore Nairobi. Some of the recommended activities here are; The Daphne Scheldrick Elephant Orphanage , Kazuri beads or Utamaduni for shopping, the AFEW Giraffe Center or even the Karen Blixen Museum. Later, you will be taken to the Eka Hotel for the night.

Day 7: Cape Town

Enjoy the morning at your leisure at the hotel and an early lunch before meeting your transfer to head to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to connect with your flight to Cape Town (via Johannesburg to clear immigration) where you will be met and transferred to The Bay Hotel on the glittering beaches of Camps Bay, your oasis while exploring South Africa’s most beautiful city.

Day 8: Cape Town

Today you embark on a private full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Take in the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to Hout Bay, where you may choose to join an optional boat cruise to Seal Island. From here you drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives, where you will board a funicular (optional and for your own account) to get to the top of the Peninsula to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy spectacular views over False Bay. After lunch (own account), continue to Simonstown, the naval base, and visit the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. Then stop at the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Gardens before returning to your hotel for overnight.

Day 9: Cape Town

You will be met this morning by your guide and will set off for a private half day tour of the Winelands, a delightful drive which winds its way through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. The first stop is Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues, and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture where you can do wine tasting, coupled with a chocolate and dessert tasting. Onward over the scenic Helshoogte Pass, to Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago, and widely regarded as the culinary capital of South Africa. Its beautiful setting and café lined streets will charm you and a further wine tasting is included at one of the renowned estates here. Your final stop is at the town of Paarl, at the foot of a cluster of remarkable granite domes where you enjoy your final wine tasting before heading back to Cape Town.

Day 10: Cape Town

Today is at leisure to relax at your hotel or to explore the “Mother City” on your own. We suggest the fantastic shopping along Kloof and Long Streets, a visit to Robben Island, or a day on the beautiful beaches of Camps Bay with lots of quaint cafes and shops to visit.

Days 11 – 13: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve

A transfer will return you to the airport this morning for your flight to Skukuza where you will be met and driven to the elegant Lion Sands River Lodge to begin your safari in the exclusive Sabi Sand. During your stay, embark on twice daily off-road game drives with your guide to spot wildlife big and small or stretch your legs out on a bush walk to encounter animals on foot. On one of your nights in camp, experience a truly unforgettable night under the stars at the luxurious Chalkley Treehouse.

Day 14: Departure

Your memorable safari comes to an end today! Transfer to Kruger airport for your flight to Johannesburg arriving in time to connect with your flight back home.
