Client Travel – 12 Day Kenya and South Africa Honeymoon

We were excited to help some of our travelers plan the ultimate 12 Day Kenya and South Africa Honeymoon.  They experienced the Great Migration, Penguins, Cage Diving with Sharks, Wine Tasting and much More. It was an amazing honeymoon. They had always dreamed of visiting South Africa and doing a safari through other parts of Africa.  We helped them put together the ultimate trip. Here is their itinerary and also some great pictures from their safari:

Day 1 : Nairobi

  • They arrived to Africa and we picked them up upon arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Our representatives transferred them to Karen Gables, a beautiful owner-run property in the Karen suburb of Nairobi. The first night in Kenya was at this garden oasis, centrally located to visit a number of local attractions.

    • Bed and Breakfast

Days 2 – 5 : Masai Mara

  • This morning, they were met in the hotel lobby for a road transfer to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for their scheduled flight to the sprawling Masai Mara Game Reserve. On arrival in Mara North, they were met by a guide for their transfer to the camp. Enjoyed early morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles within the private Mara North Conservancy where they can drove off road. A special perk is that their stay includes a private vehicle for game drives!
  • Our clients absolutely loved their time here and let us know how much they appreciated everything. Starting the morning with an amazing breakfast view (see below) at Speke’s camp, from just enjoying the wildlife for each game drive.  We were also able to deliver a bucketlist item for them, as they were able to experience the “Great Migration” during their travels.  It’s such a beautiful natural event to witness  that few are able to see and it was spectacular for them.

Upon arrival in Jo’burg, they were escorted through the Fast Track immigration line for their connection through to Cape Town.

Day 8 : Cape Town

  • This was the big day that they were excited to experience.  It was time for them to go cage diving.  They had an early morning pick up at 06:30 from their hotel for the transfer to the little town of Kleinbaai, close to Hermanus and Gansbaai. After a safety briefing, they boarded their shark-chaser, the Predator II for the 5-mile voyage to Dyer Island.
  • The island, together with Geyser Rock nearby, is home to 40 000 Cape Fur Seals, the Great White Shark’s favorite prey, and the channel which runs between the two is known as Shark Alley. This is where they anchored- using a specially mixed chum to attract the sharks, they had an opportunity to see them feeding at the surface, alongside the boat. The cage was then lowered and they were able to witness these incredible hunters of the deep in your wetsuit, protected by galvanised steel mesh. All diving equipment is supplied and only snorkelling experienced was required. A light lunch is served on the boat as well as refreshments and they also had a chance to see seals and whales in season as well as the sharks.

Included

  • Shark Cage Diving Tour: Full Day Private Tour with Scheduled Boat trip
  • Extras included: 1 x Siganture Guide; 1 x Guide Meal Allowance
    • The final collection time for shark cage diving is only confirmed to clients the evening prior. In summer, this could be as early as 3:30 am! Please make sure clients are aware of this.

Day 9 : Cape Town

  • They explored the area on their own and relaxed with no planned activities.

Days 10 – 11 : Franschhoek

  • They were met this morning to set off for the Winelands, a delightful drive which winds its way through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. The first stop was Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues, and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture where they did a wine tasting, coupled with a chocolate and dessert tasting.
  • They continued onward over the scenic Helshoogte Pass, to Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago, and widely regarded as the culinary capital of South Africa. It’s beautiful setting and café lined streets charmed them and a further wine tasting was included at one of the renowned estates.
  • Their final stop was at the town of Paarl, at the foot of a cluster of remarkable granite domes where they enjoyed their final wine tasting before heading to Mont Rochelle for a two nights stay.
