Why We Love to Travel in Shoulder Season (vs peak or off season)

  • We absolutely love traveling to destinations in the shoulder season (vs peak or off season).  There is a chance to truly enjoy a destination without some of the inconveniences that come during peak season or certainly during the off season.

Quiet Streets – Shoulder Season

Here are a few reasons why we prefer the “shoulder season” for travel:

  • Travelers are still able to enjoy ideal weather on most days (if not all)
  • Shops, restaurants and local offerings are typically still open
  • Less crowds and tourists
  • Lower pricing on accommodations, flights, etc
  • Able to truly enjoy the environment (whether it is an urban city or relaxing beach town) and have genuine conversations with the locals

Enjoying a Private Tour and No Crowds!
  • We had recently returned from an amazing week in Croatia during the shoulder season in October.  Not only did we save money on some of the accommodations and flights, but we were able to really experience the cities and islands in the country without the crowds.  We were able to have genuine conversations with shop owners, chat with locals on the beach and explore the urban areas and sightseeing without the crowds.
  • We realize that it’s not always possible to getaway in the shoulder season (especially for families with kids and school), or if you are a busy professional with certain obligations during the year.  However, if you can step away during shoulder season then we highly recommend it!
